One-click patent rejected

Great News! The U.S. Patent Office has apparently rejected Amazon.com's patent on one-click shopping on obviousness grounds, after the original patent was challenged by New Zealand actor Peter Calveley. The post on CNet's news site is here.

The scary part is that I suspect that this never would have happened if it weren't for the recent Supreme Court decisions trying to bring a sliver of sanity to the current patent regime.
Stephen is a bit ahead of the story, as Mike Masnick points out link here. He observes, "The patent office has now issued an initial rejection of 21 of 26 claims in the patent. Of course, while some are already celebrating this win, the case is far from over." He also references a long piece on Amazon's patent holdings and history link here
I missed some other references on this post. Jacqui Cheng takes a more optimistic view at link here.

She also sends us to one of the instigators of the case against Amazon link here. Together they provide more detail.

There is a god!
