I get the point, but this article doesn't really support the thesis. Bond helps sell beer, but it doesn't go into how much Heineken is paying for the privilege... Not to mention, of course, that the Bond people are leveraging the 007 trademark in order to make this deal, still relying on a monopoly.

More fundamental questions:
If there had been no copyright, would James Bond and 007 have existed?
If the series had existed, would it have been sufficiently iconic to attract the attention of Heineken? Obviously, the existence of copyright has led to Heineken desiring the placement of their product in a James Bond movie.
Without copyright, who knows what have happened?
