Copyright going wrong to the extreme

How bad could copyright on music get? If all the wealth on Earth is owed to copyright holders? That is not enough. What if all the wealth in the Universe is owed to music copyright holders on Earth?

This seems to be the premise of a Awork of fiction, where aliens get hold of our radio waves and promptly get hooked on our music, until they notice they owe a bazillion to the RIAA. Is it fiction or futuristic, though? As the recently deceased Rad Bradbury said, he is not predicting the future, he is trying to prevent it.

lol...The basic premise seems funny, until you realize that a requirement of copyright law is reciprocity. The aliens never agreed to abide by copyright law, so they are not affected by copyright law.

I was offered a review copy of this book. After reading the premise, I thought it was absurd and (wisely, I think) declined a review copy.

The quotation from Ray Bradbury was taken somewhat out of context to anything. The quote from Ray Bradbury was with respect to "Fahrenheit 451." While many people claim that Bradbury was speaking of censorship, he was actually writing about television and its effects on society.

Bradbury was also against the internet and rejected offers to put his works on the internet. Most famously, he rejected an offer from Yahoo, telling them to "go to hell."
